How to setup automated podcasts for your blog posts

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I’ll be running a “blog traffic 101” campaign by posting “Behind and beyond the obvious” blog traffic secrets, everyday. I am starting the series with this post:
When my son joined new school, he complained: “Nobody wants to be my friend”. The obvious answer any parent would give is, “YOU make the first move and try to reach out to them”.
Let’s face it. We, bloggers complain that nobody is visiting our blog. We need to reach out and make our blogs accessible to a wider audience. Today we are going to see the first trick in the series “Widen, broaden and deepen your blog’s reach”.
# Tip 1: Autocasts
Autocasts are automated podcasts. Every blog post will automatically be available as a podcast to your readers. Does that sound cool? Indeed its cool. Its pretty simple to create too.
How to setup autocasts?
Visit Odiogo.com. Signup by providing your feed url and a valid email id. You will receive your feed ID to this email. So provide a valid email id
Your feed url is something like http://feeds.feedburner.com/smartadvise (if you are using feed burner) or http://smartadvise.info/feeds
You will be taken to a set of important installation instructions which will read something like this. These steps are for wordpress 2.6.2
1. Download the plugin and unzip it into a temporary directory
2. Upload directory odiogo_listen_button to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory via FTP
3. Login to your WordPress admin account
4. Click Plugins and Activate the Odiogo Listen Button plugin
5. Click Settings > Odiogo Listen Button
6. Enter your Odiogo Feed ID that you received during the signup process.
7. Check “Notify Odiogo servers when I write a new post”
8. Check “Safe Include”
9. Click Save.
If you want to place a “Subscribe to my podcast button” on the sidebar, follow these steps.
1. Click Design>Widgets
2. Choose the sidebar you want to place the odiogo widget, if you are using 3 column wordpress theme.
3. Drag and drop (or click Add) Odiogo Subscribe Button from Available Widgets to Sidebar
4. Click Save Changes

Other advantages:
* Social Bookmarking and social media submissions: Your audience can also submit your podcasts to social bookmark and social media sites like facebook, digg, technorati and delicious
* Bundle your podcasts (all/featured) and make an audio product for sale/giveaway.
